First Race of the Year

Monday, January 26th, 2009

This past weekend was the 100’th Anniversary of the New York Armory and the 14th annual meeting of the New Balance Games. I always enjoy the chance to go to New York for this meet because it is a very relaxed and fun time. I finished 1st with a time of 3:59.92 which happened to be the 39th sub 4 minute mile run in the Armory to date. I didn’t run the fastest time in the world but good enough for my opener. I failed to have a great start so I decided to relax and keep working my way back to the front. Things turned out my way but in the future I need to make sure I’m in better contact.

Settling in…

Sunday, January 11th, 2009

I’m all settled in and training has been going well. It was a decent week of running with two good workouts under my belt. My only problem has been with blisters but hopefully my feet will soon adapt and I will be on my way. Everyone has been very accommodating and the Ohio State jokes have been kept to a minimum. It has been hard but I have kept the Michigan jokes to a minimum as well. This up coming weekend is the Ohio State Michigan Duel meet and both teams seem to be gearing up. It is going to be a great weekend with lots of action. Go Bucks!

The Last Chance run was a big hit… Friends of all ages showed up for a little fun and a run. Some of us went long, some of us went short and well…. one of us threw up after running for the first time in 9 years. After our run we all got together at the local Four Reasons Coffee shop in Lancaster for a bite to eat and some laughs. It was great to get together with these guys cause some of them were major influences in my running. I wish them all the best!

Big News

Sunday, January 4th, 2009

I would like to take this opportunity to Thank Robert Gary. I have been privileged to be one of his athletes for 9 years. I started training under him in the Fall of 1999 and continued through the Fall of 2008. I have had much success and I have learned a great deal from him. He was a true inspiration at times when I needed it and has been like a second father to me. I wish him the Best of luck with the program as I know they will do great things. I have made the move to train with Nate Brannen and Nick Willis under Coach Warhurst. I’m excited to start this new part of my life and hope that it helps me reach new levels. The opportunity to train with two Olympians in my event is a true blessing.
I also want to thank the guys at Ohio State that I have worked with over the years and wish them the best of luck. I will always Bleed Scarlet and Gray!
Go Bucks!!
